V. B. Tenery’s desire to write grew from a love of reading that blossomed at a very
young age. Quickly bored with cartoons, she devoured books, impatient for the
next visit to the library. A fascination for science fiction grew from her
introduction to the classic works of C.S. Lewis and later the brilliant writing of Ray
Bradbury and Frank Peretti. But this genre was not to be her only love. She was
lured by the tangled mysteries of Agatha Christi, Dee Henderson, T. Davis Bunn,
James Scott Bell and others too numerous to name.
After school she went to work as an administrative assistant in the country’s
largest optical firm. Writing took a back seat to her career when she became
director of service for the firm’s national warehouse. Marriage, a young daughter,
and active involvement in church turned her into an occasional weekend writer.
During this period she wrote poetry, a series of short stories based on family
history, and a number of Christian songs that were performed in her church.
When the company she worked for downsized, she jumped at the opportunity to
retire and write full time. Since then she has written two Christian novels in a
mystery series, Works of Darkness and Armor of Light. She has combined the
mystery element with a supernatural theme in her latest novel, The Watchman.
In high school and short college experience, her love for literature was equaled
only by her distaste for the rules of grammar. Naturally, with these sterling
qualifications, writing became her career of choice.
V. B. felt the hand of God throughout her life. In 1992, she was diagnosed with an
incurable, degenerative eye disease. Four years later, although the damage done
by the illness remained, the disease had been completely cured.
V. B. resides with her family in Hawkins, Texas.
